Maxon AF-F1 Auto Filter
Made in Japan — Fire Blade Series
A very nice Maxon AF-F1 Auto Filter, made in Japan and belonging to the later Maxon Fire Blade series.
The AF-F1 follows the lineage of Maxon’s earlier envelope-filter designs, including the well-known Maxon/Ibanez AF-9 and AF-01 Auto Filter. Like many classic envelope filters of the era, its basic concept can be traced back to the influential Mu-Tron-style filter circuit: dynamic filtering controlled by the player’s picking attack.
The result is a highly expressive effect capable of everything from funky, vocal-like filter sweeps to subtle wah-style textures and more extreme resonant envelope sounds.
This particular pedal is in excellent physical condition and works perfectly. The controls provide a wide range of parameter combinations, making the AF-F1 surprisingly versatile for both guitar and bass.
Controls & Features
The AF-F1 provides extensive control over its filter response and envelope characteristics, allowing the player to shape the effect from subtle tonal movement to pronounced automatic filter sweeps.
Its frequency range covers both Low and High filter modes, providing a broad palette of sounds suitable for funk, soul, experimental music, bass, guitar and electronic textures.
Power
The pedal is marked for 10V DC operation, as found on some Maxon pedals from this period. In practice, this AF-F1 operates correctly from a standard 9V DC Boss-style power supply as well as a 9V battery.
Power supply is not included.
Condition
Physical condition: EXCELLENT
Very clean overall with only minor signs of use and natural aging. The pedal retains its original character and presentation.
Technical condition: EXCELLENT
Fully tested and working perfectly.
