1962 Fender Deluxe 6G3 Brown tube-amp
Note; the guitar is NOT included.
Serial number: D 03540 / 110V
Cosmetic condition: Very Good
Serviced: YES
Upgrades/modifications:
Repro leather handle, new power cord incl. new solid plug, repro foot-switch, some new added quality filter capacitors and resistors, one later added tone potentiometer.
Since the original tube chart was quiet damaged, I got a new correct custom made one, true to the original, from Northstage, UK.
The speaker is a fantastic sounding original vintage Jensen C12 NF C6915 2 speaker from 1962, reconed by Carl’s Custom Amps, USA, new high quality speaker cable and jack.
The grill cloth is the correct original vintage wheat grill cloth which is extremely rare and hard to find, I was lucky to get some through Carl as well, it fits this amp perfectly, when I got this amp, it had an repro Oxblood grill cloth on.
The wood of the bottom inside WAS once painted blue.
Some little wholes are visible underneath the amp bottom from ancient added extra feet, no big deal though.
Historical Overview:
The Fender Deluxe 6G3, produced from 1961 to 1963, represents the transitional “Brownface” era between the tweed amps of the 1950s and the later blackface models of the mid-’60s. It delivered around 20 watts of output through a single 12-inch speaker, powered by dual 6V6GT power tubes, a GZ34 rectifier, and 12AX7/7025 preamp tubes.
The 6G3 circuit is prized for its rich, touch-sensitive breakup — a more aggressive, mid-forward tone compared to the cleaner, scooped blackface sound that followed. It was one of the first Fender amps to feature bias-modulated tremolo, giving it a smooth, pulsating character.
By late 1963, the 6G3 was phased out and replaced by the AB763 Blackface Deluxe, making the Brown Deluxe relatively rare and highly collectible today.
