1974 Fender Stratocaster Black

Upgrades / modifications:

• All 3 potentiometers have been changed in the past > they are dated to 1979 – original pickups w/ original wiring w/ refreshed solder joints – later tremolo-arm & switch tip – a couple replaced screws – the back of the maple neck and board was refinished, the board is refrettet w/ narrow tall wire (6105), headstock face is still original, no overspray – there is a short piece of black tape over a small bang (hard to see) – there was a round sticker on front top but looks fine…everything is within limits (see blacklight pics) – later 70s black Fender HSC (see pics).

Description:

Solid alder body- Black nitro-poly mix laquer finish is still glossy and in overall good condition, some wear is visible, slight dings and scratches, on the upper part where the arm strips the guitar was once a sticker which is off, it is visible but it did not left any damage to the finish, on the side of the lower horn is a short piece of black tape over a bang, its barely visible, the back of the body has very nice checking, under the tremolo pocket are some buckle-rash, see pics.

This model includes a maple neck, stamped 0903-1144 which is dated to 03 September of 1974, with a maple fretboard, refrettet w/ narrow tall wire (6105) in quiet good shape, the neck has a comfortable medium D-shaped profile, making it easy to play, the large headstock is in nice condition and the black Fender decal is clean.

The 3 ply white pickguard is equipped with three grey bottom single-coils, the pickups are controlled by a three-way selector switch, along with master volume and two tone knobs, providing a range of sonic options from sharp, twangy leads to mellow rhythms.

In mid-1969 Fender began phasing out the aluminum shields and started using a metallic shielding tape, that is the case here.

Aluminum Shielding and its transition to the tape; for many years, Fender used aluminum shielding in the guitar’s control cavities to help reduce electrical noise, in mid-1969, Fender began phasing out the aluminum shields and started using a metallic shielding tape. The tape served the same purpose as the aluminum shield – to minimize unwanted noise and interference in the guitar’s electronics.

Potentiometer codes are CTS dated to 1979 (all 3 potentiometers have been changed in the past)

The grey-bobbin pickups read 9319 (neck & middle) and are dated to 31th week of 1969 (July 28-Aug 3) and 9509 (bridge) dated to the 50th week of 1969 (December 8-14).

The hardware includes the original chrome bridge incl. the original saddles.
